Erasmus-Aktion anlässlich des Weltfrauentages
On Friday 6th March 2020 our Erasmus+ group of students and teachers organised a chain of people on our school yard to commemorate the violations of women´s rights and to support this year´s motto of the International Womens Day "Generation Gender Equality".
Some History courses at our school worked on the history of this day. In 25 states Women´s Day is a national holiday. Some spotlights on German history of women: Up to 1958 married women were not allowed to open up a bank account without their husbands´ permit. They needed their husbands´permit to work until 1977! These conditions have changed a lot in Europe but the struggle for womens rights is not finished yet. Among today´s demands the following are in the focus in Germany: the problem of violence against women in their homes; more political participation of women; an end to wage differentials between the genders and a better compatibility of work and family.
